  1. NETWORK CABLES CAT5E are UTP-Unshielded Twisted Pair and FTP-shielded Twisted Pair.

  2. CABLES CAT5 refers to the five different quality levels defined by International Electrical Industry Association for twisted pair cables.

UTP-Unshielded Twisted Pair Cable is composed of multiple pairs of twisted pairs and a plastic sheath.

Twisted pair in computer lan network can be divided into categories:
1. FTP is covered by a layer of metal material to reduce radiation and prevent informations from being intercepted.
At the same time, it has a higher data transmission rate, but the cost is higher and the installation is more complicated.
2. UTP has no metal shielding and is only wrapped with a layer of insulating rubber. The price is relatively cheap and the networking is flexible.

CAT5E NETWORK CABLES CONSTRUCTION

? CAT5E cables is a cable that appears after improving some of the performance of CAT5. Lots performance parameters, such as near-end crosstalk,attenuation crosstalk ratio, and return loss are all improved. but its transmission bandwidth is still 100MHz.
? CAT5E cables also uses 4 winding pairs and 1 tension wire.The color of the pair is exactly the same as CAT5,white orange, orange, white green, bule, white blue, green,white brown and brown.Bare copper wire diameter is 0.51mm(wire gauge is 24AWG), insulated wire diameter is 0.92mm, UTP cable diameter is 5mm.
? Although CAT5E cables can provide transmission bandwidths of up to 1000Mb/s, but it often require the support of expensive special equipment.
? Therefore, it is usually only suitable for 100M/S fast ethernet for connecting desktop switches to computers.If donot plan to upgrade your network to gigabit ethernet in the future, you can also use CAT5E lan cable in horizontal cabling.

CAT5E is more less cost than CAT6 and CAT6A cable, it is well for home using.
