Clips are used for rail fastening. They are made of spring steel and provides toe load to the bottom of the rail through elastic deformation.

I. Raw Material

The raw material of clip A shall be 60Si2Mn or p13mm hot-rolled spring steel with performance not lower than that. The performance of raw materials shall meet GB/T 1222。

II. Form, Size and Mark

The form, size and mark of the elastic strip shall comply with the following provisions:

a) The form and size of type a clip shall comply with the provisions of Figure 2; 

b) The minimum diameter of the middle part of the clip shall not be less than 12.3mm, and the minimum diameter of the tail shall not be less than 12.6mm;

c) The width of the elastic strip at the spike is 2695mm; 

d) The width of the most front arc diameter of the clip at the spike shall not be less than 24mm; 

e) The clip shall be placed on the platform, and the front end and heel end of both limbs shall be in contact with the platform. If there is no contact at one place, the lifting height shall not be greater than 0.8mm； 

f) When the clip is placed horizontally, the contact length between the straight section of both sides of the clip and the same plane (contact the front end of both sides of the clip with the same plane, insert a 0.3mm feeler gauge in the straight section of the front end of the side limb, and the distance from the end of this section to the edge of the feeler gauge is the contact length) shall not be less than 5mm, and there shall be no reverse warping of both sides of the clip; 

III. Apperence

The clip shall be free of burrs and nicks affecting the assembly.

IV. Crack

The surface of the clip shall be free of cracks.

V. Hardness

The hardness of the clip shall be 41RHC ~ 46RHC.

VI. Metallographic Structure

The metallographic structure of the clip shall be uniform tempered troostite and tempered sorbite, and a small amount of intermittent ferrite is allowed in the center.

VII. Total Decarburization Layer

The total decarburization layer depth of the clip shall not be greater than 0.20mm.

VIII. Residual Deformation

After the clip is tested for residual deformation, the residual deformation shall not be greater than 1.0mm.

IX. Buckle Pressure

The buckle pressure of type a clip shall not be less than 8.0KN.

X. Fatigue Performance

The clip shall not break after fatigue test, and the residual deformation shall not be greater than 1.0mm.
