Volnemulin hydrochloride is a semi-synthetic antibiotic; a derivative of flat mushroom polysaccharide. Antibacterial. It has a wide antibacterial spectrum and is effective against Gram-positive bacteria, negative bacteria, anaerobic bacteria, mycoplasma and spirochetes. It has a strong inhibitory effect on Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Mycobacterium bursalis, Actinomyces pleuropneumoniae, Short spirochetes of porcine dysentery, colonic bacteria hair-like short spirochetes, intracellular Lawsonia, etc. It is less effective against Gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli and Salmonella. The mechanism of action is to inhibit the protein synthesis of bacteria and other microorganisms by binding to the ribosomal 50s subunit of bacteria and other microorganisms, and to inhibit the synthesis of RNA at high concentrations.
