Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) is a well-established Public University reputed for producing professionals who are leaders in the fields of Agriculture, Engineering, Technology, Enterprise Development, Built Environment, Health Sciences, Social Sciences and other Applied Sciences to suit the needs of a dynamic world.

To offer accessible quality training, research, innovation and entrepreneurship in order to produce leaders in the fields of Agriculture, Engineering, Technology, Enterprise Development, Built Environment, Health Sciences, Social Sciences and other Applied Sciences to suit the needs of a dynamic world.
The University has over the years expanded in regard to the diversity of academic programmes, research and innovation enterprise. JKUAT remains the most preferred training institution for secondary school leavers according to the Kenya Universities and Colleges Placement Services.
Academic Programmes
The JKUAT offers quality academic programmes which are regulated by the Commission for University Education and other relevant professional bodies. The programmes are subjected to periodic reviews and evaluation that seek to test their responsiveness to the needs and demands of the industry and the Kenyan economy.

With a rich menu of academic programmes on offer in various disciplines, the Colleges have highly qualified and experienced faculty who are engaged in active research and teaching in JKUAT Campuses / Centres across the country offering academic programmes at diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Since its inception, JKUAT has been at the forefront in fostering a culture of research and innovation among faculty and students.

The establishment of JKUAT Industrial Park has been instrumental in supporting incubation of research into viable ventures. Top-notch research enterprises are taking place at JKUAT, earning the much needed prestige in Kenya, and the sub-Saharan Africa.
So far, JKUAT has secured over fifty one (51) Intellectual Property Rights certificates that include seven patents.
JKUAT is proactive in Africa’s development mainly through various research initiatives. In 2012 for example, JKUAT won a competitive bid to host the Pan African University Institute for Basic Sciences, Technology and Innovation, a graduate hub that has thrust JKUAT prominence in Africa’s integration and development through graduate training and research.
JKUAT is host to the China funded Sino Africa Joint Research Centre (SAJOREC) which is at the forefront in advancing biodiversity research and conservation in Africa.
In addition, JKUAT is home to Africa’s only International Maritime Technology Corporation Centre, fronted by International Maritime Organization, tasked to champion research in the emerging blue economy.
